Our mission is to develop, maintain, and promote multi-use recreational trails. Our work connects communities in the Mahoosuc region, supports healthy lifestyles and local economies, and fosters respect for landowners and our natural resources.



More specifically, our purpose is:

a)    To develop and promote a multi-use, regional recreational trail network to benefit the quality of life of local residents;

b)    To provide recreational access to parks, public lands, open spaces, historic districts, scenic areas, and other landmarks with a primary focus on non-motorized uses;

c)    To collaborate with mountain bike, road bike, Nordic ski and other similar trail users and user groups, and with motorized trail users and user groups to share corridors and develop motorized trails where there are opportunities to benefit both user groups

d)    To coordinate and plan the development of in-town sidewalks, pathways and backcountry trails and the connections between and among them, by working and collaborating with governmental entities, private landowners, land trusts and other non-profit organizations;

e)    To coordinate connecting recreational trails, pathways, and bike lanes between and among towns, highway departments and state agencies;

f)     To ensure adequate permanent infrastructure and trail surface maintenance and stewardship;

g)    To operate recreational trail systems, including centers for such activities as Nordic skiing and mountain biking, and to provide services related to those systems and centers;

h)    To integrate retail, lodging, schools and other public infrastructure into the trail network;

i)     To monitor and promote safe, respectful and appropriate trail use and policy that is respectful of the environment and the region's natural resources;

j)      To work with local businesses and chambers of commerce to raise awareness of recreational trails;

k)    To create comprehensive trail information and map resources easily accessed by visitors and residents.

l)      To educate the public about recreational opportunities that support healthy lifestyles . . .
